YONKERS, N.Y. Two people were hospitalized over the weekend in a pair of unrelated stabbing incidents in Yonkers, police said.
On Saturday, police responded to a large fight at the Veterans of Foreign Affairs post at 574 Yonkers Ave. around 7:15 p.m. Police said the hall had been rented for a birthday party when a large fight broke out and spilled into the street.
There, officers found a 46-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest, Police Spokesman Det. Lt. Patrick McCormack said. The victim also suffered from a punctured lung and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
On Sunday, at about 5:45 p.m., police responded to another stabbing incident, this time at 59 Beechwood Terrace. Police said they found a 17-year-old male had been slashed after an altercation with a family member.
The teen was treated at the hospital for a cut to his wrist and released. Police are investigating both incidents and no arrests have been made.
