Yonkers Police Investigate Caryl Avenue Shooting

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting of a man on Caryl Avenue.

The 24-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday, Yonkers Police said.

He was taken a local trauma center where he was treated and released, police said.

Initial investigation has revealed that the victim was possibly in the area of Caryl Avenue and South Broadway when the shooting occurred, according to police. It is unknown if he was the intended target. 

Units canvassing the scene recovered a handgun inside of Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, which is adjacent to Caryl Avenue. Multiple shell casings were also recovered at the scene. The Yonkers Police Department Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for evidence. No one has been charged at this time in relation to this shooting.
