YONKERS, N.Y. – The suspect involved in the shooting death of a man in August on Morningside Drive in Yonkers was arrested Monday, according to police.
Dontae Degree, 29, of Elmsford., was arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court on a charge of murder in the second degree in relation to the death of Kenny Hill and causing serious physical injuries to another adult male in August.
Both victims were sitting inside a vehicle on August 25 when shots were fired. Detectives used video surveillance from both private and public entities, license plate readers and cell phone records to identify the suspect and the vehicle he used.
“As a result of excellent investigative efforts by members of our Detective Division, we were able to confirm that this was not a random act of street violence. Due to their diligent work, we were able to remove a dangerous individual from our streets,” said Police Commissioner Charles Gardner.
Degree is in custody at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
