The first shooting came shortly before 8:20 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, police said. 

Two people were shot near Winthrop Avenue and transported to Jacobi Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests were made in that shooting.

A New Rochelle Police officer was flagged down the following day, at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, on May Street, where there were reports of shots fired in the area. 

The exact area of the shooting was unclear, but the two people that spoke to officers reportedly stated they were the targets.

A 21-year-old suspect whose name has not been released was detained and is facing an assault charge, police said.
