The woman found dead bound and stuffed in a suitcase along a roadway in Greenwich has been identified as being from Westchester.

Valerie Reyes, 24, of New Rochelle, who was last seen around 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, has been identified as the woman, according to Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry.

She had been reported missing to the New Rochelle Police Department as reported here on Wednesday, Jan. 30 by Daily Voice.

Reyes' body was found on the east shoulder of Glenville Road, justs north of Stillman Lane. She was found at the scene inside a suitcase with her hands and feet bound.

A thorough and methodical forensic examination of the scene was completed and a homicide investigation was initiated by Greenwich Police Detectives, Barry said.

"Her family was advised of the positive identification last night," Barry said. "They are obviously devastated by the loss of Valerie and our heartfelt condolences go out to them.”

Barry said the Greenwich Police Department is dedicated to identifying those responsible for her death and ensuring justice for her and her family.

"We continue to work with New Rochelle Police and other law enforcement agencies at multiple levels and have engaged a variety of resources to assist in the investigation," he added.

The cause of her death has not been confirmed by the Medical Examiner's Office to date.

Many pieces of possible physical evidence were collected and results from the forensic analysis are pending, Barry said.

"We have received a multitude of tips about this homicide. We are asking the public for any information they may possess concerning Valerie and/or her disappearance," the Captian said.
