Virginia Harrington, 84, Of Yonkers, Worked At Elizabeth Seton College

YONKERS, N.Y. - Virginia Harrington (nee Crawford) of Yonkers died Sunday, Dec 29. She was 84.

Harrington was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Yonkers. She graduated from Gorton High School, Yonkers, and the Cochran School of Nursing, St. John's Hospital, also in Yonkers. She became a registered nurse and worked primarily as a private duty nurse at various hospitals in southern Westchester and New York City. She continued her education, earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees at Pace University and became a nurse practitioner. She worked many years as a nurse practitioner and also taught at Elizabeth Seton College in Yonkers.

Harrington is survived by her children, Jack Harrington (Mariza) of Hollywood, Fla., Dennis P. Harrington (Deborah) of Denville, N.J., Kevin T. Harrington (Amy) of Union Vale, Richard J. Harrington (Susan) of Irvington, Ginny Harrington of Minneapolis, Minn., and Lori P. Harrington and partner, Carol Meyer of New York; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, John J. Harrington Jr.; and brother, Samuel Crawford.

Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
