YONKERS, N.Y. Samuel John Stone Jr., a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Sept. 29. He was 73.
Stone was born May 24, 1939, in Yonkers. He served in the Army and worked for Gannett Newspapers for 35 years before retiring.
He is survived by three children, Scott, Jennifer and James; three sisters, Ann, Jane and Carol (Peter); and a nephew.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at F. Ruggiero and Sons Funeral Home in Yonkers. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Yonkers. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.
