Antonio D. Carreira, 73, Of Yonkers, Maintenance Man For Liberty Lines

YONKERS, N.Y. - Antonio D. Carreira, a longtime Yonkers resident, died Monday, June 2. He was 73.

Carreira was born Feb. 18, 1941, to Joaquim Duarte and Maria Da Rosa Carreira in Portugal where he was raised and educated. After his marriage he came to the United States in 1970 and settled in Yonkers with his wife. He was a maintenance man for Liberty Lines in Yonkers for many years prior to his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Portuguese-American Community Center in Yonkers.

Carreira is survived by his wife, Maria Carriera; daughters, Jánet Carreira and Veronica Rutigliano (Ralph); two grandchildren; and a sister in Portugal. He was predeceased by a brother; and two sisters.

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 4 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5 in Our Lady of Fatima Church, South Broadway, Yonkers. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
