YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced the appointment of David Jackson as the new city assessor on Wednesday, Dec. 18, according to a statement released by the City of Yonkers.
Prior to his appointment, Jackson served as the executive director of the Westchester County Tax Commission for 13 years. He also served in the Department of Finance for New York City, Washington, D.C. and Norwalk, Conn.
"David brings 30 years of experience to the Assessor’s Office and is an ideal candidate to build on our efforts providing Yonkers taxpayers with a more fair and efficient assessment process,” Spano said in a statement.
In his new role, Jackson will be responsible for overseeing the establishment of the assessed value for all property within the municipal boundaries of the City of Yonkers.
Jackson will officially take over on Thursday, Jan. 2. He succeeds former Assessor Mark Russell, who retired earlier in the year.
