A 30-year-old man has admitted to threatening a man in his home with a weapon, binding him and robbing him in Westchester last year.

Bronx resident Augustus Moore has pleaded guilty on Friday, March 22 to robbery and burglary charges while his trial was in progress in Westchester County Court, District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Monday, March 25.

On Jan. 18 last year, Moore’s victim was in his New Rochelle home with Jersey City resident Madisyn Pettaway, whom he had been dating for several months. Shortly before 5 a.m., Pettaway, unbeknownst to the victim, let Moore and two others into the apartment.

Moore proceeded to go into his victim’s bedroom, pointed a gun at him and demanded he lay on the bed face down. The victim acquiesced, and his mouth was taped shut, his legs and arms were tied up with tape and loose clothes. While on the bed, Scarpino said the victim heard the suspects rummaging through his apartment.

After approximately 20 minutes, Moore and the other suspects took off and drove away. Their victim managed to free himself, walked through the apartment and found that jewelry, money, clothes, electronics and his cell phone were missing. He proceeded out onto the street, found a nearby pedestrian and called the police.

The investigation led to Moore, who was arrested on May 7 by police in New Rochelle. Moore was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury in July last year.

Moore has please guilty to first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies. He remains remanded into custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 14.
