Officials confirmed that 21-year-old Yonkers resident Renzo Yance was arraigned on multiple misdemeanor charges in Yonkers City Court earlier this week, days after rolled his BMW M5 on Central Park Avenue, killing Cordero, injuring himself and another passenger.
The Yonkers Police Department released his mugshot to the public on Thursday afternoon.
Members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Central Park Avenue, near Sadore Lane at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, where there were reports of an accident involving an overturned vehicle.
Upon arrival, Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said that officers spotted the vehicle in the roadway, with a passenger having been ejected from the vehicle further down the road, unconscious and unresponsive. First responders administered medical aid, including CPR and transported the 19-year-old Yonkers resident to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Speed is believed to have played a factor in the fatal crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, though Yance has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, reckless driving and was cited for speeding. Additional charges may be pending.
A vigil was held for Cordero Tuesday, who was a former employee of Lord and Taylor’s in Ridge Hill, and was set to continue her education at Southern Westchester BOCES next month. Funeral arrangements have been made for Thursday and Friday.
