Construction work – weather permitting – is expected to take place on the Exit 20 ramp to I-684 south between 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, and 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, according to Gina M. DiSarro, the DOT’s public information officer.
According to the DOT, motorists on westbound I-84 who want to travel south on I-684 should follow the marked detour. It will direct traffic from Exit 20 to go north on I-684/Route 22, then to take Exit 10 (Route 6/202), a right turn onto Route 6/202 West, and then a right turn onto I-684 South.
The DOT is asking drivers to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and to pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
It also reminded drivers that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, the DOT said, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
