Winter Weather Advisory For Blast Of Snow, Extreme Cold In White Plains

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester is expected to escape the brunt of the snow and blizzard-like conditions in the latest storm making its way through the Northeast, but a quick blast of snow will be followed by dangerously cold temperatures and wind-chill factors.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Westchester from 1 p.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. Sunday.

A high wind advisory is in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Two to 4 inches of snow accumulation is possible overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

After the snow is expected to wind down by around 9 a.m., temperatures will struggle to get higher than 14 to 16 degrees during the day Sunday, with wind-chill factors between -5 and -10 and wind gusts as high as 45 to 50 miles per hour.

Powerful gusts of wind could bring down power lines and tree limbs, warns the National Weather Service.

The overnight low temperature Sunday night into Monday could be as low as -6 to -4 with wind-chill values between -15 and -25.
