WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The school year at Archbishop Stepinac High School year officially ends on Friday, but not for a group of roughly 100 boys who will delay the start of the summer vacation to participate in a four-week enrichment program at the school.

Known at Stepinac’s S.T.E.P. (Sports, Activities, Science, Technology and Education Prep) Program, the ninth annual summer camp is designed to give students who will be entering the seventh-, eighth-, and ninth grades in the fall a strong foundation in a wide range of disciplines and activities and a preview of the high school experience.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, the boys who hail from throughout Westchester and the Bronx, will participate in a variety of challenging classes and activities at Stepinac’s 24-acre campus.

For students who prefer activities other than sports, S.T.EP. offers workshops in arts, dramatics, band, photography and computers among several others. Off-campus field trips will be designed to enhance the experience of the curriculum of the classes.

Students entering the seventh and eight grades will attend classes which will focus on sharpening their skills in advance of taking the Test for Admission into Catholic High School. Students entering Stepinac’s freshman class in September will have an opportunity to become acclimated with the school's environment and mission.

S.T.E.P. is designed to mirror Stepinac’s highly competitive academic and extracurricular program, help prepare students for college and leadership roles.
