WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Police Benevolent Association brought the annual circus to the White Plains campus of the John A. Coleman School on Friday, July 11.
This year’s circus was filled with magic tricks, daring acts and lots of fun and excitement. After the show, the members of the PBA went to every classroom to hand out ice cream and T-shirts to all the students.
Some students even had the opportunity to take a firsthand look at the Police Department’s law enforcement vehicles. The children got to sit in the cars, listen to the police radio and even hear the sirens wail.
“The Greenburgh Police Benevolent Association can not only bring an amazing show, but they can also put on an incredible show themselves,” said Maureen Tomkiel, executive director of the John A. Coleman School.
“This is an event that both our children and our staff members look forward to each year, and we are truly grateful for the thoughtfulness and the generosity that the Greenburgh police continue to show us. I’d like to specifically thank Police Officer Ed DeVito and Police Officer David Wagman, who ensured that this day was special for everyone on hand.”
“The Greenburgh PBA has been hosting a children’s circus for our local children’s hospitals the past 80 years,” said Wagman.
“This year is our 80th anniversary, and we are honored by being invited back each year to bring smiles to all involved. This is a gift for us and we thank you for the opportunity.
“Our members have made lifelong friends with the students and staff. Not only do the children laugh and smile, but the members of the PBA have a fantastic time being part of the John A. Coleman family for a day – a school that makes the world a better place.”
