White Plains Woman Accused Of Concealing $219 In Merchandise At Macy's

A woman is facing charges after she allegedly attempted to steal more than $200 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s retail store, police say.

Yorktown Police responded to Macy’s at Jefferson Valley Mall (700 Lee Boulevard) on Monday, March 18 around 6 p.m. on the report of a shoplifter in custody.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as 70-year-old Victoria Pinto of White Plains, had allegedly entered the store around 5 p.m. and concealed approximately $219.51 in merchandise in her purse and another Macy’s bag. Police say she did not pass all points of purchase and had tried to exit the store without paying for the items.

Pinto was arrested and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. She was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear at Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, April 18.
