One Killed, Another Airlifted In Long Island Crash, Police Say

The crash, involving a 1995 Mitsubishi took place around 12:48 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Woodmere, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, a 47-year-old man was driving his vehicle southwest in the vicinity 1044 Peninsula Boulevard when he lost control and struck a tree, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police Medic at the scene at 12:53 p.m., police added.

The passenger, a 47-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital by a Nassau County Police helicopter for evaluation and treatment for upper body trauma and is in serious condition. 

The investigation is ongoing.
