Reap was born Dec. 1, 1934, to George Thomas and Nancy Eloise Jenkins in Norfolk, Va. She was valedictorian of her Granby High School graduating class. She attended one year of college at William and Mary. After her marriage she moved to White Plains. She graduated magna cum laude in 1986 from Manhattanville College and later earned her Master's Degree from Manhattanville in Arts and Humanities. She completed her Honors Thesis on Patrick White's The Eye of the Storm and served as editor of The White Plains' Woman's Club "Club Dial" magazine. She was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and a member of both the White Plains Woman's Club and the Fezziwigs. She was a volunteer at White Plains Hospital.
Reap is survived by her children, JJ, Jessica Leigh and Michael (Anne) Reap; two grandchildren; and sister, Edythe Albis of Virginia Beach, Va. She was predeceased by her brother, George T. Jenkins; and husband, the Hon. James Burnett Reap.
A memorial service to celebrate Reap's life will be held Wednesday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reid Castle, Manhattanville College, Purchase.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Reap's name to the ASPCA or the Elmsford Animal Shelter.
