White Plains Ale House Celebrates Re-Opening

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - You know its a good omen for a business when its namesake celebrates her birthday the same day as the grand re-opening party.

Emma’s Ale House in White Plains proved this Thursday night that last month's kitchen fire could only mean bigger and better things for the restaurant's future—which also happened to be the day owner Casey Egan’s golden retriever pup, Emma turned 7 years old.

The restaurant has been closed since Oct. 5. “We’re very blessed no one was hurt and we made some renovations to the bathrooms and dining room floor,” he said of the three week period that Emma’s was under construction.

To commemorate their re-opening, Egan invited his patrons in Thursday night a for free hour-long open bar and sampling of bar snacks. Emma’s has been open since last Saturday.

Judging by the fact that every table was filled and the bar was chock-full of customers at all times, it was obvious that Emma’s has garnered support from its community. Locals were thrilled to see their favorite neighborhood joint back in action.

“We’ve been coming for years and it’s good to see Emma’s was able to bounce back after the fire,” said White Plains resident Cindy Swargood.

Egan was even able to find a silver lining in his situation: it allowed him to help those less fortunate. Since the restaurant had to close and he wasn't sure when it was going to re-open, he donated $5,000 worth of his meats and produce to the Food Bank for Westchester.

“When you can help someone when they’re down it can turn their luck around,” he added.
