Resolution J3308, sponsored by State Sen. George Latimer, a Rye Democrat, recounts Lemm's courage and sacrifice for his county as part of the New York Air National Guard and with the New York Police Department.
"I'm proud to sponsor this legislation," Latimer said.
The resolution notes that Lemm, a 15-year veteran police officer with the New York Police Department, was killed by a suicide bomber while serving his country in Afghanistan. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
A native of Nebraska, Lemm, 45, was known as Superman with the NYPD, the resolution said. He was honored by the police department after tracking down two of three teens he saw running away from a stabbing in December 2005. He was off-duty at the time.
