Dina Lohan Reality Show Wraps Up Casting in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Casting for a new reality show based in White Plains and featuring Lindsey Lohan's mother, Dina, is almost complete, according to a statement from its executive producer, Linda Sawyer.

" DramaMamas " began filming May 26 when the White Plains Performing Arts Center's (WPPAC) Conservatory Theater held its first auditions for a new musical to be staged next fall. Sawyer's television show will follow the young actors, as well as their DramaMamas, as they bring this new musical from casting to the stage.

"The television show is kind of like a fly on the wall watching the process, where there's an interest in the moms of some of the participants in the show and following their trajectory in terms of what it takes to be a good stage parent and support your kid in their endeavors," said Jeremy Quinn, producing artistic director of WPPAC and director of its new musical.

The Conservatory Theatre, housed in the WPPAC, is a training and presentation program for performers between ages 8 and 18, as well as college students and adults.

Sawyer based "DramaMamas" on her own life as a television producer trying to balance her career with taking her daughters to singing, acting and dance lessons four to five times a week.

"Our casting for 'DramaMamas' was an extraordinary success this weekend in New York," Sawyer said in a statement. "We found five of our six 'DramaMamas' cast and dozens of talented singers, dancers and actors."

Like Sawyer, Lohan carted her daughter around to and from acting roles for years. The former dancer will be one of several "celebrity mentors" who guide the parents of the young performers cast in the musical.

"After Dina Lohan met with the moms she joined the kids on stage to perform the dance call with our Broadway hopefuls and she was sensational," Sawyer said in the statement. "The theater was on their feet with applause and shouts of 'bravo.' "

The production would hit the stage in mid-November, and selected performers would begin rehearsals in mid-August for three to four days a week from 5 to 9 p.m.
