COVID-19: Here's Latest Rundown Of Westchester Cases By Municipality

There were 38 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Westchester - including at least one prominent lawmaker - as the county's daily infection rate held steady.

Since the virus was first reported in Westchester seven months ago, there have now been 38,694 confirmed COVID cases in Westchester out of 710,356 tested, according to the state's Department of Health.

The overall percentage of positive results for those tested in Westchester dropped to 5.4 percent, down from 5.8 percent last week.

There was one new fatality reported overnight, bringing the total at 1,459 COVID-19-related deaths in Westchester since March.

In Westchester, the positivity rate for those being tested for COVID-19 has fluctuated slightly in recent days, according to the state: 

  • Saturday, Oct. 3: 5,443 tests administered, resulting in 44 (0.8 percent) positive tests;
  • Sunday, Oct. 4: 4,438 tests administered, resulting in 40 (1.1 percent) positive tests;
  • Monday, Oct. 5: 4,267 tests administered, resulting in 52 (1.2 percent) positive tests;
  • Tuesday, Oct. 6: 5,097 tests administered, resulting in 61 (1.2 percent) positive tests;
  • Wednesday, Oct. 7: 7,634 tests administered, resulting in 66 (0.9 percent) positive tests.

The rolling average of positive COVID-19 cases in Westchester has been at an average of 1 percent in the past seven days.

A breakdown of total, active, and new COVID-19 cases in Westchester municipalities on Thursday, Oct. 8, according to the county Department of Health:

  • Yonkers: 8,033 (115, 8 new);
  • New Rochelle: 3,386 (79, 3 new);
  • Mount Vernon: 2,923 (32, 4 new);
  • White Plains: 2,005 (33, 2 new);
  • Port Chester: 1,369 (22);
  • Greenburgh: 1,309 (17);
  • Ossining Village: 1,154 (20, 1 new);
  • Peekskill: 1,080 (10);
  • Cortlandt: 1,009 (25, 3 new);
  • Yorktown: 838 (33, 1 new);
  • Mount Pleasant: 666 (33);

Statewide, there were 145,811 COVID-19 tests administered yesterday, with 1,836 (1.26 percent) testing positive. There are currently 754 people hospitalized with the virus, up more than 100 from last week. There were 10 new fatalities.

Since the pandemic began, New York has administered 11,647,440 COVID-19 tests, with 470,104 testing positive. A total of 25,555 New Yorkers have died since mid-March.
