White Plains' Rose DeMarco Dies at 88

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Rose DeMarco, of White Plains, died Nov. 9 at her home after a long illness. She was 88.

Born in White Plains on Oct. 14, 1923 to Carmillo and Maria DeMarco, she graduated from White Plains High School in 1942. She started a 50-year career with the New York State Liquor Authority on Jan. 15, 1946.

On Jun. 4, 1986, the Westchester County Board of Legislation declared it Rose DeMarco Day in appreciation of her dedicated services to the agency. The Westchester Restaurant and Tavern Assocation then held a gala in honor.

She was a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. For over 50 years, she'd collect donations in honor of St. Anthony with her mother.

She is survived by her brother Carlo DeMarco of Armonk and several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. 

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Name of Jesus Church, followed by interment at Mount Calvary in White Plains.
