Former Art Supply Owner, Ginter Dies at 84

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Longtime White Plains resident, Philip A. Ginter died Nov. 22 in Calvary Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 84.

A veteran of two military branches and of two wars, Ginter owned County Art Supply Company in White Plains for many years. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul and Marguerite Ginter. He graduated from Scarsdale High School and attended University of Toledo.

Ginter served in the Navy during World War II and the Army during the Korean War. He was active in St. Bernard's Church and was known for kind demeanor and sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife Patricia Ginter, his daughters Mary (Mike) Matero, Margaret (Kit) Anderson, Patricia (Bob) Flippin, Laura (Pete) Muckell and Barbara (Jon) Renz, his son Philip (Janet) Ginter, Jr., his brother Tom Ginter and 18 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Don and Jerry Ginter.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Bernard's Church. Interment will be private.
