Both Musk and Trump have decided in recent day that it will soon be time for Musk to return to his businesses and take on a supporting role with his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, according to Politico.

The news comes shortly after a conservative judge Musk supported by financially and vocally lost a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat by 10 points on Tuesday, April 1.

In addition, as a "special government employee," Musk can serve for a maximum of 130 days during any 365-day period. Since his DOGE role began on Inauguration Day on Monday, Jan. 20, that time frame would end on Friday, May 30.

Trump is reportedly pleased with the cost-cutting measures implemented by Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency team across the government, despite the public backlash and legal challenges they have faced, according to sources cited by ABC News.

Even if he leaves, Musk is likely to remain an adviser to Trump and continue to be a regular at the White House, a senior administration official told Politico.
