The Market is located right in the center of the village of Haverstraw every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June through October.
Their motto is simple: “Eat Fresh. Eat Local. Eat Well.” For Haverstraw residents, the market makes that possible.
Jennifer Hahn, a Haverstraw resident and one of the market’s organizers, agrees.
“Every Sunday at the Haverstraw Farmers’ Market we offer unique and fresh groceries that are produced locally by our surrounding community,” explains Hahn.
The Market hosts local producers such as Do Re Me Farms, a family owned farm based out of New Hampton, New York.
Do Re Me's owner, John Pahucki, proudly, “grows a wide variety of high quality produce, with a large selection of in-season fruit and vegetables.”
Another local farmer present at the Haverstraw Market, Perez Farms, strives to do just that as well. Perez Farms grows all their own produce in Middletown, New York.
Getting local farmers is as important to this market as getting good food… good thing they go hand in hand!
Jennifer Hahn notes, “It’s a really great way to promote healthy and affordable food in the community.”
The Haverstraw Market takes their emphasis on wellness a step further and even promotes good reading.
Featured at the market was a vendor of children’s books known as Barefoot Books as well as a Haverstraw King’s Daughter Library table.
Ulanda White, a representative from the library, boasts that, aided by their promotion at the Farmers’ Market, the Haverstraw King’s Daughter Library Summer Reading list for students grades K-12 has 500 young participants in total.
For Haverstraw, having a Farmers’ Market does not simply mean vegetables, it means community wellness.
