WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. --- If a shoe inspired by Westchester doesn't grab your attention, what will?
The White Plains-based Very Lovely Soles, founded by former Nine West Designer Vanessa L. Seide, will premiere its 2016 collection with a Westchester story. In other words, expect to see flats with color blocking and new construction. Seide will also be doing a lot of local events in the area, something she hasn't done before.
Bridal will also have a strong role in her new collection. "The future is really tapping into bridal," said Seide who has been in the shoe world for more than 13 years. "I think there is a void in the industry."
And, for the first time, there will be sandals in the collection with an emphasis on lighter colors. So far, she said the natural/orange seem to be big winners.
Seide started the company in 2012, naming it as a homage to her initials. She said her business is all about effortless style, fashion, and value, with a focus on flats and comfort. "The philosophy is simply about creating beautiful product for exclusive and selective clientele who buy for quality and a personal connection to the products," she said.
The White Plains resident found her passion in flats after years of traveling and trend sourcing the globe seeking the perfect pair. Using her deep factory relationships, knowledge of the industry and inspiration from her trips, the concept for the ideal flat collection was developed and immediately put into action.
All shoes are handcrafted in Italy with the finest materials and designed to make customers feel comfortable, chic and timeliness. All styles have a unique name with an interesting story behind them. The bright West Palm styles, for example, are neon and bright and include exotic prints. Each shoe comes with a little story in its package explaining the inspiration.
And now, Westchester will have its moment in the sun, based on Seide's experiences growing up in Katonah but living in White Plains.
Shoes are available at Lola NY in White Plains and Love Shoes in Larchmont as well as online at www.verylovelysoles.com/.
