These Are Top-Rated New Restaurants In Area

It’s no secret that New York is filled with some of the country’s finest eateries, and some popular Hudson Valley restaurants have been named some of the state’s finest, according to a brand new report.

Several Hudson Valley restaurants were named some of New York’s “best new restaurants,” according to a report released by UpstateNewYork.

Citing data from Yelp, NewYorkUpstate has released its new report of the municipalities that feature the top businesses in categories ranging from best pizzeria to specialty stops such as vegetarian restaurants and sushi bars. Factors that determine ranking include the number of reviews, star ranking and number of negative reviews.”

The report only includes restaurants from upstate - which is considered north of Westchester and Rockland counties - in the rankings. "Best" has been measured using an algorithm that looks at the number of reviews and star rating for a business, as well as other factors like the number of negative reviews and recency of reviews.

Hudson Valley restaurants that made the cut include: 

Fogwood & Fig (fifth overall) - 24 Front St., Port Jervis

The report cited 25 reviews - including 24 five star reviews - which landed it an overall five-star rating. According to its website, Fogwood & Fig offers "a vegetable comfort food cafe." 

Hoot Owl (11th) - 26 Awosting Road, Pine Bush

The report cited 52 reviews - including 44 five-star reviews - which resulted in a five-star rating overall. According to the restaurant's website, "We serve delicious food and drinks in a comfortable and welcoming environment. We strive our best to source ingredients that are delicious, healthy, and provide the most benefit to the local community: socially, environmentally, and economically. But most importantly, we aim to be a place where neighbors and friends can connect with each other, where strangers can become friends, and where we all can share a few laughs, and enjoy our short time together on this earth."

Melzingah Tap House (14th) - 554 Main St., Beacon

The report cited 71 reviews - including 44 five-star reviews - which resulted in a 4.5 rating. According to the website, "Melzingah Tap House is an all-new gathering place for craft beer enthusiasts, cocktail connoisseurs, and food fanatics. (It offers) a fantastic twist on local cuisine, 23 taps of unique craft beer, and custom cocktails sure to delight Owners, Kevin & Dana Collins, brought their passion to life from concept to construction and design to execution."
