Missing Woman Found Dead In Abandoned Building In Region

Police are investigating after a 36-year-old woman was found dead inside an abandoned building in the region, weeks after she was reported missing.

The body of Sadie Kopyc, of Cohoes, was found at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, inside an Albany building located on Central Avenue, Albany Police spokesperson Steven Smith told Daily Voice.

Kopyc was reported missing to the Cohoes Police Department on Friday, Jan. 20. The department later asked for the public’s help finding her in a Facebook post on Monday, Feb. 6.

Smith said the two police departments have been in contact, and Albany Police are conducting a death investigation.

It was not immediately clear how long Kopyc had been in the building, and an official cause of death had not been made public as of Wednesday, Feb. 8.
