The third annual Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon begins at 9:30 a.m. on Beekman Avenue, and this year's runners will see a brand new route through the village that includes five miles of carriage roads and groomed trails, event officials say.

“The idyllic landscape and scenic views of the Rockefeller State Park Preserve now make up part of the course due to construction and development along sections of the Sleepy Hollow waterfront,” race organizers Rivertown Runners said in a statement. “We are thrilled to make it possible for you to race on the same spectacular carriage roads and trails that serve as a training ground for many of the area’s top runners.”

The race will close several village streets on Saturday morning as runners work their way from the inter-village, through Webber Park, the Rockefeller State Park Preserve, Sleepy Hollow Manor and Philipse Manor.

Runners will start at the intersection of Beekman Avenue and Andrews Lane, running east to New Broadway to merge with the Old Croton Aqueduct. The race then runs through the carriage trails at Rockefeller State Park Preserve and north to the New York Life building.

Runners will wind around to Route 117 before circling back again to Phelps Memorial Hospital and Sleepy Hollow Manor. The last legs of the race head south through Philipse Manor, Kingsland Point Park and Pocantico Street, ending up on Beekman Avenue.

Race day parking will be available at the Sleepy Hollow High School and the General Motors lot. Race day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with a final call for runners at 9:15 a.m. The entire course will close at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at noon.

A pre-race pasta dinner will take place at J.P. Doyle's Restaurant on Friday night for participants and Bridge View Tavern is hosting a post-race party.
