Tarrytown Polls Open Tuesday for School Elections


SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow residents will head to the polls on Tuesday to vote on a proposed 2012-13 budget and three board of education members for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns.


The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.


Incumbents B. Joseph Lillis, Craig Laub and Mimi Godwin are running unopposed for their seats on the board of educations. You can learn about each candidate's views on issues facing the village by reading their election questionnaire.


Trustees serve three-year terms.


The proposed $66.83 million budget would raise the rate by 1.97 percent for Tarrytown residents and 3.12 percent for Sleepy Hollow residents. Tuesday's vote also includes a proposition to buy two school buses. You can read more about the proposed budget and proposition on The Daily Tarrytown.


The proposed budget falls within the tax cap, so a simple majority is needed for it to pass.
