Johnson will speak during the day to students, and in the evening Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Woodlands High School.

Woodlands' retiring Athletic Director Mario Scarano worked with the Falcon Nest Booster Club to book Johnson, considered a top speaker in the country, according to Scarano.

Johnson is from a tough Atlanta neighborhood, born when his mother was a teen and living in poverty.

Football helped change his luck. Johnson got a full scholarship to the University of Tennessee.

But in his second game, against the Air Force Academy, Johnson suffered permanent nerve damage to his right arm and a life-threatening broken artery in his chest in a tackle.

In spite of his injuries and a long road to recovery, Johnson earned undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee.

He speaks to business executives, sports teams, church groups and young people’s organizations around the country about leadership, teamwork, perseverance, and life’s challenges.
