School board members made the appointment Monday. Borsari, principal at Byram Hills for eight years, takes over in Tarrytown on July 1.

With a master's degree in education from Manhattanville College and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia, Borsari has also served as principal of Sleepy Hollow Middle School when district officials separated the middle school from the high school. District officials credit Borsari with helping make that a smooth transition.

Also, he's been a middle school teacher, assistant to the athletic director and assistant principal for the Byram Hills Central School District, officials said.

School board members made the appointment after a search by Hazard, Young, Attea and Assoc., that started in August 2015. Borsari replaces Daniel McCann, who has been serving the as interim superintendent since last summer.
