UPDATED 3:15 p.m.: SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- A man has been charged with attempted murder in an early Sunday shooting that left two people injured in Sleepy Hollow, according to police.

"At about 3:37 a.m., Sleepy Hollow Police Department received numerous calls reporting shots fired in the area of Beekman Avenue and Barnhart Avenue," said Sleepy Hollow Police Officer Vincenzo Lombardi. "Officers responded to the calls and found two subjects lying on the road on Beekman Avenue who were apparent gunshot victims."

Sean Ward, 30, who lives in Sleepy Hollow or Greenburgh, was apprehended shortly thereafter on nearby Clinton Street, and a firearm was recovered, Lombardi said.

Ward has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree criminal possession of a Weapon, police said. He has been arraigned and remanded to the custody of the Westchester County Department of Correction.

A 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were shot, said Police Chief Gregory J. Camp. They remained under the care of doctors at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla on Sunday afternoon, he said.

At least one of the victims was in critical condition upon arrival, according to police. The suspect sustained non-gunshot-related injuries, police said.

Camp requested that anyone who witnessed the event or has any information regarding the shooting but who has not been interviewed or provided their names to the Sleepy Hollow Police Department to call 914-631-0800 and speak with a detective.

An investigation into the shooting was continuing, and no further information was available Sunday afternoon.
