The incident took place around 12:52 a.m., Thursday, June 20, when a tractor-trailer traveling southbound on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers struck the overpass to the Cross County Parkway, causing significant damage to the tractor and the trailer it was transporting, said Westchester County Police Spokesman Kieran O'Leary.

The driver – a 41-year-old Tennessee man – was not injured, O'Leary said.

The driver was issued summonses for driving a commercial vehicle on the parkway, which is for passenger cars only; failure to obey a traffic control device, and having an over-height vehicle on the parkway, he added.

The tractor-trailer combo was 13-feet-6 -nches tall. The signs on the approach to the bridge/overpass indicate it is 9-feet-10-inches tall.

The right lane on the parkway was closed as well as the ramp to clear up debris and tow the tractor and trailer.

The roadways reopened at 5:58 a.m.
