Mohegan Lake Man, 21, Charged With Stealing, Cashing Paycheck

A man from Mohegan Lake is facing charges after police say he stole and cashed a paycheck that did not belong to him.

Yorktown Police say they responded to a Mohegan Lake residence on the report of a domestic dispute on Friday, May 3 around 1:30 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that the victim allegedly had her paycheck stolen and cashed by a man later identified as 21-year-old Navit Azizi, according to police.

Azizi was arrested, transported and processed at Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following:

Third-degree forgery, a Class A misdemeanor
Petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor (two counts)

Azizi was ticketed and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, June 4.
