A convicted felon nearly died from an overdose after taking New York State Police troopers on a high-speed chase through Northern Westchester.

Troopers from the Cortlandt barracks and the FBI's’ Safe Streets Task Force attempted to stop Brooklyn resident Patrick Williams, 31, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Route 9 in Cortlandt, when he committed a vehicle and traffic violation.

According to police, Williams initially stopped his vehicle, then sped away from the troopers, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, Williams took troopers through Cortlandt, into Peekskill and then back into Cortlandt before he was boxed in.

Williams was taken into custody in Cortlandt, police said, and at the time of his arrest, he showed signs of a potential overdose. Troopers administered two doses of Narcan to Williams and called for paramedics to respond to the scene. Williams was taken to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, treated, and released.

Further investigation determined that Williams was in possession of two loaded guns, one of which had been reported stolen. He was also in possession of approximately 7.8 grams of MDMA and 4.4 grams of marijuana. Williams was also wanted for a parole violation.

Williams was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana. Williams was also charged in White Plains federal court with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Following his arraignment in federal court in White Plains, Williams was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Wednesday, Aug. 7 to respond to the charges.
