Man Drove Drunk With 6-Year-Old In Car At Long Island Library, Police Say

A man drove drunk with his 6-year-old daughter in the car while they were at a Long Island library, police said.

Officers from the Nassau County Police Department were dispatched to the Plainview Old Bethpage Library on Old Country Road shortly before 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, for a reported drunk driver.

Police said that upon arrival, Westbury resident Emisael Villatoro, 41, was found to be driving while he was allegedly intoxicated. 

The investigation also found that his daughter was a passenger in the vehicle at the time.

Villatoro was placed under arrest and his daughter was released to her mother. Villatoro was charged with:

  • driving while intoxicated, 
  • endangering the welfare of a child,
  • aggravated driving while intoxicated under the Leandra Law for having a child in the car.

Following his arrest, Villatoro was held and scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, Feb. 14.
