The incident took place around 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, when state police received a call from a homeowner at 13 Brook Drive in Cortlandt saying their dog was in a creek and couldn't get out, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

The Good Samaritans held the dog's head above water but couldn't get the dog out of the water. That's when Trooper Jason Long arrived on the scene and was able to retrieve the dog without a problem.

The dog was in good shape once warmed up.

Unfortunately, no one knew the breed of the dog.
