The incident happened over the weekend of Saturday, March 15, when officers responded to Hillside Woods in Hastings-on-Hudson following reports of a large party and multiple fights. Upon arrival, they found approximately 300 youths from Hastings and surrounding villages, the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department announced.

Police worked with Dobbs Ferry Police and the Westchester County Police Department to disperse the crowd. However, once the group reached Lefurgy and Edgewood Avenues, things took a turn for the worse.

As police attempted to maintain order, the crowd became unruly and disorderly, engaging in several street fights. Some youths fought with officers, resulting in one officer being injured.

Additionally, the crowd refused to comply with police orders for quiet and continued to engage in various quality-of-life violations in the surrounding areas.

In response to the chaotic events, Hastings-on-Hudson Police will increase patrols in Hillside Woods and strictly enforce all applicable laws.

"The gathering of these events and the lack of respect for the law will not be tolerated,” Chief David A. Dosin stated.
