TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Michael Janos, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died Sunday, Feb. 28. He was 65.
Born in Yonkers on July 14, 1950, he was the son of Michael and Clare Pleva Janos.
He was a graduate of Irvington High School and earned his bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego. He was employed by the Village of Tarrytown Recreation Department and served as the driver for the senior citizens bus. Prior to that, he had been the proprietor of Mory's Army Navy Store on Main Street in Tarrytown.
On April 20, 1983, he married Patricia Downing in Transfiguration Church. He served on the board of directors at the Tarry Crest Pool and tennis club.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Michael Patrick of Tarrytown, Allison Marie of Washington, D.C. and Laura Beth of Tarrytown; and his mother, Clare Janos of Tarrytown.
Visitation will take place Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home, 91 N. Broadway, Tarrytown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Transfiguration Church with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
