Joseph Angelo Gizzi, 86, Irvington Resident

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Joseph Angelo Gizzi of Irvington, formerly of Ossining, died Saturday, April 9. He was 86.

Born Nov. 26, 1929, in Ossining, he was the son of Guiseppe and Maria Pagliacci Gizzi. He graduated from Ossining High School and later earned a bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortlandt. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He had been the proprietor of York Surgical in Yonkers for many years until he retired. He was a member of the Ossining Fire Department's Monitor Hose Company 4 since 1952. He was also a member of the Irvington Seniors.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph, Gregory, Brian and Christopher, their wives and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home, 91 N. Broadway, Tarrytown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors would be appreciated.
