A woman has been indicted on an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a man in the back in Westchester last summer.

Autumn Graham, 45, of New Rochelle, was arraigned this week on an indictment charging her for the attempted murder of a city man in August last year.

Specifically, Graham was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced.

Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Echo Avenue shortly after 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 last year, where there was a report of a stabbing.

It is alleged that Graham’s victim left his apartment to go to work, and as he walked along Main Street in New Rochelle, Graham approached him, stopped, and stabbed him in the back of his neck and shoulder before walking away.

Police said that the man had been stabbed in the back and sustained serious injuries. The knife was found lodged in his back when officers arrived. Scarpino said the New Rochelle resident was transported by an ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment on “serious injuries,” to his spinal cord.

New Rochelle Police detectives investigating the stabbing were led to Graham, who was located later that day at approximately 3:30 p.m. near the Library Green in New Rochelle. At the time of her arrest, police said that Graham was homeless, and living in a New Rochelle shelter.

According to police, it does not appear that Graham knew her victim, and the attack appears to be unprovoked and random.

Graham remains in custody in lieu of bail. She is scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
