TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- A Tarrytown man was the victim of a check cashing scam that promised a $1 million prize, but ultimately cost the man $5,900, according to Patch.com
The victim received a letter in the mail instructing him to deposit a check into his bank account, withdraw the money, and send it to an address in Queens. The complainant was unable to contact the party that sent the letter after sending the money, Patch.com reported.
Police are investigating the incident as grand larceny, according to Patch.com.
