TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A benefit for Theresa Gorski's children is planned Thursday night.
The “Wear It, But Don't Bear It (domestic violence, that is)” benefit will raise money for a Sleepy Hollow family “ripped apart by domestic violence.” W@tercoolerHub is hosting the event from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All women are invited.
Gorski died in January after her husband allegedly strangled her in their Webber Park home. Christopher Howon, 49, is facing murder and strangulation charges.
Gorski is survived by her two young daughters, who are living with a relative in Connecticut.
Thursday's benefit will feature a silent auction, raffle, wine and shopping. Several businesses in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow have donated items.
Event officials are asking men to stay home because there are no dressing rooms and women will want to try on clothes. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Howson children.
Donations for the family are also being accepted for the Howson Children's Fund online. Organizers have raised $7,759 so far, 16 percent of their $50,000 goal.
