The Bronxville facility provides diagnostic and treatment services for all types of sleep disorders. Its officials say the accreditation is a testament to their work.

“This accreditation speaks to the superior quality of care that we provide patients,” said Deborah Cappell, MD, director of the Center for Sleep Medicine at NYP/Lawrence Hospital. “Sleep disorders can be the root cause of larger chronic health issues such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Our ability to diagnose and treat these issues contributes to the general wellness of our patients.”

The accreditation, which lasts five years, required the facility to meet standards in personnel, equipment, policies and procedures, and quality assurance, among other areas.

“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates The Center for Sleep Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital on meeting the high standards required for receiving accreditation as a sleep disorders center,” said Nathaniel Watson, MD, AASM president. “The Center for Sleep Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital is an important resource to the local medical community and will provide academic and scientific value in addition to the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders.”
