POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Two people are dead following a car crash that closed the Mid-Hudson Bridge early Wednesday, according to authorities.

The bridge reopened just as the morning commute ended.

The crash took place on the Ulster County (west) side of the span at approximately 2:30 a.m. between Route 9 and Route 9W North.
