Hudson River Swim Set Saturday In Sleepy Hollow

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Swimmers will make a 3-mile journey Saturday across the Hudson River to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The annual Hudson River Swim for Life will feature the 3-mile swim, a 1-mile swim and a pop-up cafe from Sleepy Hollow restaurant Finalmente. The General Motors lot also will be open between Horan's Landing and Kingsland Point Park.

During the main event, swimmers will dive into the Hudson River at the Nyack Marina at 9:30 a.m. and end up in Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow. A smaller, 1-mile swim will take place at 11 a.m. beginning at the Philipse Manor Beach Club.

The annual Swim for Life began in 1991 when Dennis Chillemi swam from Nyack to Irvington on his own. His wife later suggested he make the swim and raise money for the Blythdale Children's Hospital. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been the swim's beneficiary since 2006. The society works to further cancer research and improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.
