First responders were dispatched to a Landscape Avenue building in Yonkers shortly before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, police said, when the concrete collapsed on a hill above the building.

The wall collapsed on Landscape Avenue onto Bruce Avenue, though no injuries were reported. Police said that the retaining wall was supporting a concrete parking slab that was at risk of sliding down and crushing a structure below.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department, IAFF Local 628 Yonkers Firefighters, and Empress Emergency Medical Scene responded and were able to secure the scene without further incident.

Residents of a building on Bruce Avenue have been forced to temporarily evacuate and were assisted by volunteers from the American Red Cross and the Yonkers Police Emergency Service Unit. The residents will be displaced until a building inspector can evaluate the condition at the scene on Thursday.
