But it was a 6-foot fence that finally did the trick. It didn't come cheaply, she said, but it's allowed her to reclaim her landscape, according to the Times.
And she's not alone. Folks across the region are resorting to 6- and 8-foot fences to fend off the nibbling creatures, the Times reported, whether professionally installed or a do-it-yourself job.
The Times also spoke with Irvington's Philip Whitney, who went the 8-foot-tall self-installed option, and Kim and John Conte, of Greenwich, Conn., who also went with an 8-foot option. The couple own a landscape architecture business.
There is also an array of materials options, including plastic netting or mesh, wire mesh and even wrought-iron fencing, the Times reported. And the boom in the deer population has been a boon to local companies, including Numat Fence in Dobbs Ferry, which has seen such orders increase by a third over the past several years.
